Bernard Pliers Sculpture:
Inspired by a letter written by sculptor Alexander Calder to Robert Munger, the head of the industrial supply store that supplied tools to the artist, Peter Kirkiles researched and found the types of tools Calder used. Now Kirkiles, using documents, ephemera and photographs of the pliers Calder used most often, has created a large-scale sculpture of the tool Calder bought by the caseload – Bernard pliers. The installation of the sculpture includes photographs and archives linking sculpture of the 1950s with that of today.
